KJA’s Foundation for the Future Campaign Doesn’t Stop Now
Building on our Success: Phase Two!
Building on our Success: Phase Two!
We thank all of our donors and everyone who participated in the wonderful weekend of August 17-19 when we celebrated the great success of Phase One of our Foundation for the Future Campaign and re-consecrated Congregation B’nai Israel. We want you all to know that we intend to build on our achievements. Our KJA Board and Sisterhood will soon be in the early planning stages for Phase Two!
Our overarching goal is to ensure that our beautifully enhanced building, new Social Hall, and the Karaite Jewish Cultural Center it will house, vibrate with life, activity, learning, culture and fun as well as spirituality for all in our community, and that it be a gathering place to bring Karaite Jews together with the larger Jewish world. As so many of us said on our celebration weekend, the building is just an empty shell without people in it.
Through the funding to be raised in Phase Two, new activities could include: increased youth and adult education resources; an augmented program of cultural and social events to engage the whole family, including a possible annual conference; stronger connections with the Karaite Jewish community in Israel; and advocacy efforts on behalf of the global Karaite Jewish community. An enhanced web presence, expanded efforts to preserve our legacy through oral and video histories, more publications through the Karaite Press, and an enhanced archive in our beautiful new Library are all on the drawing board. And most importantly, we hope to develop the sustained funding necessary to engage a permanent Rav/Educational Leader who will provide oversight to the spiritual and life cycle needs of the community, as well as the many other vital activities needed to keep B’nai Israel a vibrant gathering place for the Karaite Jewish community for years to come.
Our “Foundation for the Future“ Campaign Phase One is just the start of a renaissance for the Karaite Jewish community in the United States, but your financial and volunteer support in Phase Two will be crucial to our future success. Contact David Ovadia at [email protected], or Shawn Lichaa at [email protected] for more information about ways to get involved or click here to make a gift now. Let’s all build on the momentum!
